planning, shmanning

Every family vacation my family takes is planned about 2 weeks prior to the date of departure. Any time my family throughly plans months in advance for anything (party, vacation, etc.), something inevitably goes wrong. Here are just a couple examples:

When my grandpa turned 90 we planned to throw a huge party inviting everyone in our family, it was going to be perfect. The morning of the party my grandpa fell and broke his leg, party cancelled.

I planned on going to see my family in Miami over the summer to catch up with my cousin who was going to be spending the academic year studying in China. A week before that I had to have my tonsils out, trip cancelled.

I think this continuous bad luck with planning things out in advance has been a major contributor to my chronic procrastination. It's not a good quality and something I know I HAVE to improve!
